Rider Training CBT at Wallasey Motorcycles

COMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING (CBT)

Compulsory
Basic Training (CBT) is a legal requirement for all prospective motorcyclists,
and is an essential first step for anyone wanting to get active on two wheels.

The CBT
course starts with the off-road elements lasting up to four hours, and is
followed with the on-road element lasting a minimum of two hours.

CBT is a
“Rolling Assessment” and as such you cannot fail in the accepted sense –
however, some students may require extra training to meet a safe and competent
road standard – our instructor will advise you if this is the case, and a
booking will be made for a suitable time.

During
the CBT, the instructor is not looking for “test standard” riding quality, but
will be looking to ensure that you are riding to a standard sufficient to be
allowed on to the road network un-aided or assisted.

Before
the CBT, please ensure that you have studied and are familiar with the highway
code, and the motorcycle theory test handbook, if you have never used the road
before it is a good idea to ask an experienced driver to give you a rolling
commentary as they drive along, so you can familiarise yourself with the
procedures and signs of the road network.
When you
attend the CBT course, bring your licence, helmet, gloves, suitable footwear
(no steel toe-cap) and suitable clothing – this is the minimum standard
required for the CBT.
